I'VE TAKEN MY DAUGHTER BACK, SAYS SINEAD O'CONNOR By Karen Edwards and Anthony Barnes, PA News Controversial singer Sinead O'Connor said today that she taken her daughter back from her ex-lover in the latest twist in a legal custody battle. Asked at her north London home about reports that she had brought three-year-old Roisin back from Dublin, singer said: "It is all true." Last month she announced she had surrendered custody of Roisin to her daughter's father, the writer John Waters. The Irish star refused to make any further comment about the ongoing custody battle. O'Connor gave Mr Waters, a columnist on the Irish Times who lives in Dublin, temporary custody of Roisin on Mother's Day. At the same time she faxed heartfelt statements to newspapers justifying her decision and saying: "I am not a bad mother. That's not why I am giving up custody." O'Connor said it was not in the child's interests for her to continue contesting the case, and added: "I will see our daughter at weekends and during school holidays." But after apparently having a change of heart she returned to London with Roisin two weeks ago, after pretending to take her for a walk. Difficulties surfaced earlier this year when allegations of neglect were levelled against the singer. A social worker from Camden Council visited O'Connor's home, and she was subsequently cleared of any problems. April 09, 1999
