MUSE 1997 In the chair: Sinead O'Connor our favourite Irish pop star of all time. Who's your favourite Spice Girl and why? Mel B. Because she so open, so out there and she has great presence. What kind of music are you listening to at the moment? R&B. I just listen to a lot of the pirate stations in London and pick up on what they play. It's the dirty sex bit I like. Chris Evans? He's an OK guy. I don't think the show is very good, most of the attention is put on that stage manager chap, what's his name, Will?. Evans is OK but he shouldn't have left the Big Breakfast. Oh well, they'll never let me back on TFI Friday again after this. What books do you like? I loved Pat McCabe's "The Butcher Boy" as a story of Ireland. When was the last time you were in a club? I don't go to clubs anymore because I have two children. I'm normally in bed by 10 o'clock. What was the last record you heard that made you go WOW? An R&B record but I don't know what it's called. It's this girl singing about her man who's been away and who's cheated on her. One of the lines goes (sings) "give me half of the rent and get out of here". I love that song, that made me go wow. Is it All Saints? You've died and gone to heaven. What's on the jukebox? Bob Marley's "Ride Natty Ride". What's the first thing you'd do when you got there? Say hello to my mother and my granny. And I'd have a few questions for God. Like why didn't he make the birth canal bigger. The Irish people elect you President. What do you do when you get to the Aras? Smoke a spliff. Ideal holiday location? In a little Volkswagon camper with my boyfriend and my children. I wouldn't mind where, probably Ireland. I go away to work so much that I hate going on holidays. Last film you saw? Wilde. Who'd play you in O'Connor, the film? I wouldn't like anyone to do a film about me, I wouldn't like anyone knowing all about me. I think there's something a bit masturbatory about it. Sinead O'Connor's Man or Woman of 1997 is... Diana, Princess of Wales.
