The Mirror February 14, 2000, Monday STAR HITS AT SINEAD SHANE MacGowan yesterday slammed Sinead O'Connor for tipping off police about his alleged drug use. The former Pogues star - who is now facing drug charges - is furious with his old pal for sending the drug squad to his house. The self-styled priest said she told London cops last November about his alleged use of heroin because she loves him. But now hellraiser MacGowan - who is due back in Highbury Magistrates Court on March 6 to face drug charges - is considering taking legal action against her. He accused her of hypocrisy and claimed he and O'Connor clashed when she came to his home dressed as a priest. "She stormed round my flat. I thought she was going to a fancy dress. She said: 'I'm your priest, you have to obey me.' "I said: 'I don't want any priest in my house'. And she left in a rage." Admitting that he had a small amount of heroin in the house on the day, MacGowan is now considering legal action over her claims. The war of words marks an explosive end to what was once a strong friendship.
