News - Wed 8 Mar 2000 'THERE'S BEEN TOO MANY DEATHS'- SINEAD Shane MacGowan Sinead O'Connor has lashed-out at Shane MacGowan, who has been cleared of heroin charges, after a close friend of hers was killed in a freak accident. O'Connor reported MacGowan to police last year after seeing him take the drug, because she feared he would end up dead. However, charges of possessing the drug against walking rock n' roll machine MacGowan were dropped yesterday and O'Connor has been left reeling after the death of Dublin journalist Jonathan Bowman. Bowman died after apparently falling and cracking his head in his Ireland flat. O'Connor protested: 'It's never the people who deserve to die who do die, is it? 'In the light of what's happened, I couldn't care less what happened to Shane. There's been too many deaths.'
